					<description>Personally, I believe that effort can be more satisfying in life than talent.  There are a great many talented people who, without putting effort into that gift, accomplish nothing -- whereas someone with medium talent and extraordinary effort can accomplish what they set their minds to.

Of course, if you juxtapose that with American Idol...there's a great many people who are deluded into thinking effort/desire MAKES talent...

So there are extenuating circumstances.  Your classroom discussion was genius, the kids were very respectful and good debaters, backing up their opinions with examples.
